Insurance Council extends date for Code review submissions

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has extended the deadline for submissions to its review of the General Insurance Code of Practice by another four weeks.

The window for submissions to this latest Code review was due to close today but the ICA will now keep it open until Friday April 28.

The Code, introduced in 1994, commits insurers to mandatory standards of service over and above their statutory obligations.

ICA CEO Rob Whelan said the Review team was keen to receive input from groups representing diverse consumer interests.

“Submissions from the community provide invaluable perspectives on how the Code is working for the very people it is designed to protect,” Mr Whelan said.

“Their insights will help to ensure the Code remains the benchmark for industry self-regulation in Australia.”

Submissions can be made by visiting www.codeofpracticereview.com.au.
