ICA welcomes free National Construction Code
February 2, 2015
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) is pleased that builders can now access the National Construction Code (NCC) free.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan said the general insurance industry had been advocating for some time that national requirements on how buildings were constructed should be free and readily available to builders.
“This reform should improve compliance with the National Construction Code and potentially raise the construction standards for Australia’s building stock,” Mr Whelan said.
“Compliance with the NCC is always important, and is especially relevant in regions that are exposed to frequent and catastrophic natural hazards.
“However, the industry believes the NCC could be strengthened to further improve resilience to natural hazards.”
The National Construction Code is available in online and pdf format as of yesterday – for more information visit http://www.abcb.gov.au/
