ICA new president announcement

Wesfarmers Insurance, Managing Director, Mr Robert Scott formally commenced on 1 January 2011 as the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) President for 2011 and 2012.

QBE Australia Asia Pacific, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Vincent McLenaghan commenced on 1 January 2011 as the ICA Deputy President for 2011 and 2012.

Mr Scott has served on the ICA Board since February 2009 and was the ICA Deputy President during 2010.

“It’s a great opportunity to be able to continue to work with the ICA Board in the capacity of President.  The members of the ICA Board are a talented and knowledgeable group who have contributed significantly to the many policy successes of the general insurance industry in recent years,” Mr Scott said.

“The ICA is keen to strengthen the relationship that our industry has with consumers and build greater awareness of insurance.  The general insurance industry provides crucial support to the Australian community in times of need,” Mr Scott said.

“I am particularly keen to work with the ICA executive to continue the excellent research and lobbying work already undertaken across a broad range of issues from taxation reform, regulatory settings, disaster planning and management and resilient communities,” said Mr Scott.

“I would like to see the industry peak body take more of a lead role on issues that are of importance to our consumers.”
