Cyclone Marcia claimants invited to insurance forums
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will hold insurance forums in Yeppoon and Rockhampton for claimants affected by Cyclone Marcia.
The forums will take place on the following dates:
- Yeppoon: Wednesday March 18, 7pm to 9pm
- Rockhampton: Thursday March 19, 7pm to 9pm
The forums will cover key aspects of the recovery process for insured property owners, including claims and handling, claims assessment, settlement options, site clean-up and rebuilding, and dispute resolution.
Representatives from the ICA will be joined by a number of experts from relevant insurance companies.
The closed-door forum is for claimants only and registration is essential, so that the ICA can ensure the best resources are made available to individual claimants.
Claimants who wish to attend must register by calling 1800 734 621, and register before 12 noon Wednesday March 18.
ICA Rob Whelan said the events offered claimants the opportunity to speak to insurance experts about the recent cyclone and the recovery process.
“The forums enable cyclone-affected locals to have one-on-one discussions with a relevant expert about any concerns they may have about their claim, and the steps they need to take to help them rebuild their homes and businesses,” Mr Whelan said.
“Importantly, if there are any issues, these can be escalated as quickly as possible with the relevant insurer.
“I encourage any claimants who have queries about the claims process to come along and put their questions to insurance company representatives, legal experts and other participants.”
