ICA Board considers Code Review report
The Board of the Insurance Council of Australia, meeting in Sydney, today considered the report into the General Insurance Code of Practice following the 2012-13 independent review by Mr Ian Enright.
The confidential 200-page report is the result of a 12-month examination of the role and effectiveness of the Code. It takes into account various insurance-related recommendations of recent state and federal government inquiries, as well as a diverse range of submissions and opinions received by Mr Enright as part of his extensive consultations with consumer, government and industry stakeholders.
The Board has directed an ICA sub-committee, consisting of senior representatives from ICA member companies, to review and assess the report’s remarks, findings and recommendations. The sub-committee will present its findings to member companies before the end of the year.
ICA Board President Mark Milliner thanked Mr Enright for his diligence and thoroughness. The sub-committee and the ICA Board will consult Mr Enright on his report as required.
