Insurance Council welcomes climate change impact report
The Insurance Council of Australia has today welcomed the report Managing our coastal zone in a changing climate: the time to act is now, following the inquiry into climate change and environmental impacts on coastal communities, by the House Standing Committee on Climate Change, Water, Environment and the Arts.
The Committee has recognised the importance of the insurance industry in assisting individuals to recover from weather related damage, as well as the need to review land use practices and building codes.
The Insurance Council will continue to work closely with government to address these issues.
