President — Robert Scott

Rob was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Wesfarmers Insurance in February 2007 and Managing Director in July 2007. He is a director of a number of Wesfarmers group subsidiaries.

Rob previously worked for Wesfarmers in 1993-4 in the finance and accounting team. Before rejoining Wesfarmers in business development in 2004, he worked with Deutsche Bank AG in Hong Kong and Sydney in various investment banking roles. These roles involved cross border mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, financing and restructuring.

Rob holds a Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Australian National University. He has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Deputy President — Mark Milliner

Mark has been the Chief Executive Officer of Suncorp Group's Personal Insurance since October 2009. He oversees leading insurance brands including AAMI, GIO, Suncorp Insurance and Apia, as well as niche brands such as Shannons, Bingle and JustCar Insurance.

Using his extensive experience in insurance and organisational change management in Australia and Europe, Mark is charged with implementing a "one team, many brands" approach to Suncorp's diverse portfolio of 12 insurance brands.

Mark's senior management experience in the insurance sector is extensive.  In the lead up to Suncorp's acquisition of Promina, Mark was appointed Group Executive, Commercial Insurance for Suncorp.

Following the Promina acquisition in March 2007, Mark was responsible for the combined Promina and Suncorp Commercial Insurance portfolio in Australia, including the Suncorp, GIO and Vero brands, as well as the Group's Workers Compensation and Compulsory Third Party insurance businesses.

Mark joined Suncorp in 1994 and has worked on initiatives including the merger of Suncorp, Metway Bank and QIDC in 1996 and the integration of Suncorp and GIO in 2001.

Executive Director & CEO — Robert Whelan

Robert joined the Insurance Council of Australia on March 22, 2010, after a highly successful career as a senior manager in a diverse range of roles within the insurance and banking sectors.

He is well regarded in the financial services industry as a leader in the development of public policy, and has worked extensively with regulatory bodies, government and consumer groups.

Ian Berg

Ian is the manager of the Australian Operations of FM Global. With more than 30 years' experience in the insurance sector, Ian is the chief executive officer for FM Global in Australia, and a director of FM Insurance Co. Ltd.  He is also a director of the Insurance Council of Australia.  Commencing his career as a loss prevention engineer, he has worked in engineering, business development, marketing, underwriting and management positions for FM Global in Australia, the UK and the US.

Ian is a qualified engineer, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a Member of the Institution of Engineers and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Noel Condon

Noel has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. He joined AIG in 1984 in his home town of Dublin, Ireland. Since 1992 he has held various underwriting, marketing and country management roles in the UK, Europe, Asia and New Zealand. Prior to his appointment as CEO Australia, he was based in Brussels as Country Manager for Chartis Belgium and Luxembourg. He spends his spare time cycling, hiking and fishing.

Andy Cornish

Andy joined IAG in January 2009 as Chief Executive Officer, Direct Insurance, the business which distributes general insurance products directly to customers throughout Australia under the NRMA Insurance, SGIO, SGIC, The Buzz and RACV* brands.

Andy brings to IAG more than 30 years' experience in the insurance industry. He previously held several managing director roles with the second largest general insurer in the UK, RBS Insurance, which is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Prior to joining RBS Insurance in 1999, Andy was Chief Executive Officer of motoring organisation Green Flag Group Ltd. He has also held senior management positions with Zurich Insurance and Eagle Star Insurance Co Ltd.

Shane Doyle

Shane is the Chief Executive, General Insurance, Zurich Australia and New Zealand. He joined Zurich's Australian and New Zealand business in 2010 as General Manager, General Insurance. He has more than 20 years' experience in financial services. In his role as CEO, Shane is responsible for all areas of Zurich's General Insurance operations in Australia and New Zealand, a business which primarily offers commercial insurance through independent brokers.

New Zealand-born Shane started his career with the New Zealand branch of American Home Assurance in 1989, culminating in being appointed National Market Manager. In 2001, he was appointed Vice President Regional Manager Financial Lines with AIG Middle East, the Mediterranean and South East Asia. He joined AIG's European business in 2004, first as Vice President Management Liability and then Senior Vice President Regional Manager Financial Lines. In 2008 he was appointed AIG UK's Senior Vice President Regional Manager Financial Lines, before joining  Zurich Australia and New Zealand.

Heinrich Eder

Heinrich graduated in Economics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany in 1979 and started his career with Munich Reinsurance in 1980.

After various postings with Munich Re Group, including a period of eight years as President of Munich Re Japan, he joined Munich Re Australasia as General Manager Non-Life Division in 2003.

On November 1, 2005, he was appointed to the position of Managing Director of Munich Holdings of Australasia. He is responsible for the life and non-life reinsurance operations of the Group in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Heinrich is a Director of the Insurance Council of Australia and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Colin Fagen

Colin has been involved in the insurance industry for more than 20 years. His extensive career has covered operational, marketing, relationship management and senior executive roles across all classes of general insurance.

During his time at QBE, Colin has served in a number of senior executive roles in Australian operations. Most recently he held the position of Executive General Manager Intermediary Distribution, where he provided strategic leadership and operational management to the various business units that provided services to all Australian intermediaries. Today, these intermediaries include four international brokers, major broker cluster groups and several hundred mid-size brokers and authorised representatives.

Adrian Humphreys

Adrian was appointed General Representative for Lloyd's in Australia in July 2010.

After graduating from Exeter University Adrian started his career in London working in the Defence sector moving to KPMG in 1998, becoming the Chief Operating Officer for sales, marketing and communications for its Financial Services arm in 2002.

After developing a keen interest in the insurance market Adrian spent three years at Aon Global as Director of Account Development and Retention moving to Lloyd's Relationship Management division in 2007. In this role Adrian played a key part in the development of the Lloyd's strategic plan released in February 2010 looking at the mid to long term development strategy of the Lloyd's market.

Adrian has been based in Sydney since taking up his current role where he also serves of several other boards including the Underwriting Agencies Council.

Mike McCarthy

Mike was appointed Chief Executive Officer of RAC Insurance in 2007.

He commenced his career with BHP and joined the Financial Services industry in 1982 delivering wholesale insurance services to credit unions in Australia.

In October 1999, Mike was appointed Chief Executive of the CUNA Mutual Group in Australia

Mike has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, and is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Mark Senkevics

Mark is Managing Director and Head of Australia & New Zealand, Swiss Reinsurance Company Limited, based in Sydney. He is a member of Swiss Re's Asia Management Team.

Prior to his appointment as Head of Australia & New Zealand in March 2010, Mark was Head of Client Markets Korea, based in Seoul, with responsibility for both life and non-life reinsurance. Before moving to Korea, Mark was General Manager and Head of Swiss Re Taiwan's Property and Casualty operation from 2005 to 2007. Mark joined Swiss Re in Sydney in February 2003 and was responsible for several of Swiss Re's major clients. He was also involved in new business development and worked with several startup clients in establishing their reinsurance programs.

Mark began his reinsurance career in early 1995, working for both Scor Re and Gerling Global Re in Australia, in various underwriting and marketing roles.  Before joining the reinsurance industry, he worked for Honeywell, a leading industrial and commercial control company, in various roles including Project Management and Marketing.

Mark graduated from the University of Sydney in 1988 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is married with two children.

Terry Towell

Terry was appointed Managing Director for Allianz Australia in November 1998. He is one of Australia's most experienced general insurance executives with more than 30 years' experience at South British United, New Zealand Insurance and Suncorp Metway prior to joining Allianz. 

Terry has held senior roles across a broad range of management disciplines including strategy development, distribution, underwriting, product management, information technology and insurance operations.
