The Insurance Council operates approximately 47 committees and working groups, comprising member company representatives from across the country, who focus on critical issues impacting the value of insurance to the Australian community.

As part of a commitment to becoming carbon neutral the Insurance Council has reviewed the number of face to face meetings held by committees and working groups where travel and consequential carbon emissions will be incurred.

A key part of this strategy is the use of webconferencing, allowing committee members to login to a live meeting from the comfort of their own workplace, avoiding the use of travel and subsequent carbon emissions, whilst still being able to interact with other representatives and collaborate on documents and presentations.

Committee and working group members who interact through this medium will receive an email in advance containing joining instructions. No special equipment is required beyond a computer with unrestricted access to the internet and a telephone.
